During the past month, our reviewers covered the usual symphonic hits and themed choral programs. But, what wasn't expected was the number of releases focused on brass and percussion instruments. These included a new recording of Reich's Drumming, which has become standard rep for percussionists; a new percussion concerto, Dreamachine, by Michael Daugherty; recent Grammy winners Giancarlo Guerrero and the Nashville Symphony performing new wind concertos; and an entire disc of fanfares by Onyx Brass. All offering music to brighten up your listening hours.
